Unbelievable that city council would give in to environmental zealots and take away a great asset to our community

This is such a great activity for both kids,adults and family's to participate in. An oppertunity for people to learn a new sport and enjoy nature and an INCREDIBLE view! I want to be able to show the kids I may have some day the same fun!

I am from Auburn and I and my family were wanting to come up to Chico to play the courses. This is the only reason I would come there. The point is that Chico would lose REVENUE from visitors coming to play.

1200 lb horses can destroy trails (huge holes in trails) daily, however 170 lb disc golfers are bad for the park?? Wake up Chico!

This park is the best park I have ever been in. This course is a great place to hang and be close to nature. To take out one of the very few course in the world is to take away the entire sport from a community because of its rarity.

Disk golf should be reckognized by the city of Chico. We provide a one hole practice in the Childrens park but fail to continue the development of a full course. The upkeep is managable and sholuld not be the discouraging factor to create a nice course.

If your budget is an issue then there is nothing better for this park than a disc golf course! I think they keep foot traffic in otherwise unused parts of the park and help deter crime. Plus it has already been there for ten years it has worked so far why

I started disc golfing in the bay area. I've since moved to Chico and think it would be a shame to see the only course in the area disappear.

Disc Golf does not necessarily have a bad impact on trees. Ewing Disc Golf Course in Des Moines Iowa plays through the city's Children's Arboretum. It is a great way to play disc golf and learn about the many variety of trees and shrubs in the park.

We have courses in Tulsa that are over 30 years old. The tree damage is neglible after 3 decades. Bugs, birds and wind causes much more damage than disc golfers.

The city should keep the disc golf courses in upper park. I have become a more avid disc golfer over the past few months and every time that I go the parking lot has anywhere from 5-30 cars in it. We should not lose this privelege.

I have played disc golf on and off for 20 years and have played a variety of courses throughout Northern California. Disc Golf is a clean recreational activity for people of all ages to enjoy.

Seems to me the "Friends" have fallen victim to the same thinking that lead to the vietnam war. The slippery slope fallacy. They see disc golf leading to a wasteland of dead trees and billboards. I see it as another great thing to do in Chico.

If you really want to save the trees and their surrounding environment, you should help advocate a permanent course. That way, when the area is parcelled off for track housing, it will be protected from the suburbian hell that Chico is sure to become.

Think of it in terms of communal services. Providing more outlets for our youth can only increase there opportunities for success.

My first experience playing disc golf was when I was a freshmman at Chico St., now being a senior I am so glad my old roommate opened up a whole new chapter in my sporting adventures, don't take that opportunity for others in the future to experience

What good would the land the course is on be if no one used it? It's there, it's beautiful, so we might as well enjoy it with minimal amounts of damage rather than admire it from afar.

As a college student, I can barely afford any sort of recreation other than Disc Golf. It provides a fun/exercising use of the beauty that is Upper Bidwell. The positive impact on our community far outweighs the nominal bit of environmental damage caused.

What would we do if the golf course were gone? nothing. We'd probably start up another lame band or spend lots more money on gas going to the course in Oroville. Can't we all just get along?

PLEASE do not take away the Chico Disc course! Can you not see how much joy it brings to us and how much effort we have been putting into saving it? We care about the environment too! Please dont let the few people ruin it for us. Thank you! Kevin

The traffic issues are a clear sign that the people of chico have spoken. They WANT to play disc golf. The irony is that, because so many people play, we may loose our course. FIND ANOTHER SOLUTION FOR THE PEOPLE OF CHICO. Outdoor living MUST prevail.

If Bidwell isn't the right place, lets find a new place and the city should help.

Disc golf is a great addition to the park. It would be huge to loose it. The park is for everyone to use, and everyone to share.

I have enjoyed Bidwell Park for years and while I do not play disc golf I completely support those who do. It seems that horseback riding (which I also support) causes far more damage. The park is large enough for everyone.

My 8 year old daughter cherishes the time she can spend with me throwing discs, hiking, appreciating flora and fauna, and just being together on the long course(as do I). Please let us keep our special times together at this beautiful location. Thank you.

I started playing disc golf summer '04 and it gives me exercise, competition, a beautiful view and so much more.

I'm saddened that the Friends of Bidwell Park is so opposed to an environmentally harmless sport that brings friends and family together to enjoy the beauty of nature--in a part of the park that is isolated from other, more popular areas.

I support the disc golf course 100%. I have worked in the environmental field for five years and think that the environmental damage is minimal compared to the benefit of its users.

I support disc golf in chico and in bidwell park.

Please support disc golf and give current and future generations a place to enjoy a safe and healthy sport.

Disc golf is one of the only free events available in Chico and supports students and locals to go outside and enjoy nature. I have never seen a cleaner course around. Country Club golf courses aren't as clean as the Chico disc golf course.

Disc golf is a great outdoor activity.

Environmental impact? If that's the case we need to get rid of all the deer that make tracks up there too. Let's get real.

Annie Bidwell did not give us the park to lock up and preserve! She gave it to the people of Chico to enjoy......to use....to get outside...........to stay healty!

A small group of enviro-extremists should not be allowed to hold the community of Chico hostage. Their radical ideology must not be the final arbiter over outdoor recreation opportunities in Bidwell Park. It is a park, let the people of Chico use it!!!

disc golf is a fun, inexpensive, and a great way to get out and walk in the forest, without being an imposition on the surrounding environment.

I can understand need to reduce the environmental impact humans have in Bidwell Park. But closing the course will not relieve the problem. The city can, and should, accomodate both recreational and envirnmental goals by allowing the course to remain.

I don't know where I'd be without disc golf...

Of any course I've ever played, the Bidwell course remains my favorite for its challenge and beauty. I return to Chico several times a year to play and I believe it should be preserved as a crown jewel of the Bidwell park treasure.

There's enough park in Bidwell Park to accomodate all manner of recreation, disc golf not the least of which. Limiting park activities to those that leave each blade of grass unbent, each clearing quieter than a library, strikes me as extreme.

FROLF rules!! Please leave the course for the many people that use it!

Please don't destroy one of the few things left to do in Chico that doesn't involve alcohol.

The city should keep the disc golf course for many reasons. It is and always has been kept clean, it gives citizens an outdoors sport activities and promotes a healthy life style. The sport has also become a national sport played all around the country.

Disc golf was the best outlet for me while I was going to school there at Chico State. Made many friends and felt the thrill of competion. A wonderful 'free' activity that all can enjoy. What a beautiful place.

I have had many rewarding and relaxing times on that course and I would hate for others not to have the opportunity to experience the same. Save "OUR" course.

I was introduced to this sport in Chico and it's tough to find a course, even in bigger cities. It's a well known fact that Bidwell Park is a National treasure with everything it offers, don't screw it up!

Keep the disc golf course incurrent location and look for ways to better manage trash and debries left behind by golfers. Trash cans at the sight would be appropriate for the park to provide. In addtion plans to keep the hwy 32 course and create a new

As a parent of two Chico State students I would hate to think of the demise of disc golf. My sons have had many pleasurable hours playing the sport.It's a wonderful outlet for a nominal cost for the discs. I support the sport in Chico

I have been one of many loyal and conscientous users of the Chico Disc Golf Course for many years now. This is a valuable asset to the Chico Community and needs more funding and support.

Save the disc golfing course, it provides so much fun in a place that is naturally beautiful and awsome to visit.

Disc Golf in Chico is keeps me sane and out of trouble with the law. It also provides my boys with a healthy alternative to the plethora of drugs that's availability has proliferated in butte county.

I would hate to see what Martin's 3 kids would do with their time if they didn't have the disc golf course. Keep the course, for the kids.

Disc golf course is a fun activity that anyone can participate in. It brings a smile to my face when I think of the fun times I had with friends during school. This course brings people together. We need to keep this course.

It's a perfect, inexpensive form of recreation for whole family to enjoy. My 3 kids love to play on a sunny Sunday

Save this course for the public use and enjoyment. I know many people that play this course and frankly it may be the only thing they do all day, but we sure do enjoy it!!!

The only time my master takes me for a walk is when he goes disc golfing. Without this exercise, my life would be meaningless. Ruff!
